Good performance is recognized and rewarded, and collaboration, creativity, and initiative are encouraged at every level.

Compensation

A competitive compensation package is on offer, inclusive of a $60,000 to $75,000 base salary (commensurate upon experience).

The Opportunity

If you are a self-directed, passionate, and hands-on professional who enjoys managing shipments end-to-end and delivering exceptional results, this role is for you. You will take ownership of operations, tackle complex challenges, and make a tangible impact on the business.

The position also provides significant growth opportunities, including direct exposure to senior management, hands-on experience with high-value key accounts, and participation in strategic cross-functional projects. You will contribute to process improvements, drive operational efficiency, and gain experiences that support career progression toward senior operational or managerial roles, while enhancing your professional development.

Position Description

The Logistics Specialist manages the day-to-day operational activities for air, sea, and ground shipments. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where your decisions directly influence the movement of high-value shipments and customer satisfaction. You will serve as a key liaison between customers, carriers, overseas agents, and internal teams, ensuring seamless shipment execution from booking to delivery.

Operations Management

  • Oversee air, ocean, and ground shipments from origin to destination.
  • Coordinate bookings, pickups, documentation, and delivery with carriers, co-loaders, agents, and vendors.

  • Track cargo in transit and provide timely updates to clients and internal teams.
  • Manage exceptions, delays, demurrage, and other operational challenges effectively.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all shipment files.

Customer & Partner Coordination

  • Deliver exceptional service to clients with proactive updates and problem resolution.
  • Liaise with carriers, overseas partners, and suppliers to ensure operational accuracy and timely responses.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and act as their operational representative.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with Canadian customs regulations, international shipping standards, and carrier requirements.
  • Maintain accurate digital records for audits, billing, and reporting purposes.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance workflow efficiency and operational processes.
  • Support SOP development, service implementation, and operational planning.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to contribute to company growth initiatives.

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Review vendor invoices and charges for accuracy before approval.
  • Assist accounting with file costing, billing, and revenue reconciliation.
  • Provide backup support to team members and assist management with special projects.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is high-energy, solution-oriented, and takes ownership of their work. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accountability, and enjoys collaborating with a dynamic team.

  • Minimum 3–4 years of freight forwarding experience (air, ocean, and ground).
  • Strong knowledge of logistics processes, Incoterms, international trade documentation, and customs requirements.
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with clients, carriers, and overseas agents.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with freight management systems is a plus.
